The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team of professionals. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing projects from inception to execution. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage engineering projects, including project scope, objectives, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, and contracts.
  • Participate in and contribute to studies, assessments, modeling, preliminary and detailed design, specifications, contract documents, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Provide technical insight and oversight in various construction engineering activities, such as roadworks, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, street lighting, ESC, site grading, and stormwater management.
  • Perform or oversee field reviews in accordance with quality management procedures and competence.
  • Prepare various project documentation, including memos, proposals, reports, with speed and accuracy, ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and project constraints.
  • Utilize negotiation strategies and client advocacy skills to optimize project outcomes.
  • Liaise with and manage expectations of clients, colleagues, consultants, regulatory agencies, utility companies, and contractors.
  • Attend meetings with clients, municipal staff, and contractors as needed for project purposes.
  • Prepare monthly invoicing, fee requests, and other project-related reports consistent with project budgets and requirements.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork, and provide mentorship and training to more junior staff.

Requirements

  • A degree in civil engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Designation as a P.Eng. in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of local experience in land development or capital works projects.
  • Experience in the design and management of municipal infrastructure and land development projects in the Lower Mainland.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction standards, requirements for permits, local municipal approval processes.
  • Ability to operate within internal budgets for at least 80% of all projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle competing deadlines while effectively managing relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to think quickly and promptly solve conflicts if they arise during construction.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented skills are critical, along with exceptional time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent skills in presentation, negotiation, collaboration, and communication, both oral and written, and ability to represent the company.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel to and inspect project and construction sites.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil3D, an asset.
