Commercial Automobile Underwriter Position

Aviva Canada is seeking an experienced Automobile Underwriter to join our dynamic Commercial Lines team in our Atlantic Branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for growing our book profitably by leveraging customer relationships and technical skills. You will also be responsible for underwriting and retaining our renewal base, prioritizing workflow to our service standards, and handling more complex endorsement activities in accordance with your authority levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grow our book profitably by leveraging customer relationships, technical skills and great judgment to quote and place new business.
- Create and maintain excellent relationships with our broker partners, providing best in class customer service.
- Underwriting and retaining our renewal base, prioritizing workflow to our service standards, and being responsible for the more complex endorsement activities in accordance with your authority levels.
- Reviewing inspections, and coaching/training more junior staff when those opportunities arise.
- Provide your feedback to improve and simplify processes, resulting in effective and efficient results, while maintaining our core values and capabilities.
- We encourage collaboration, in conjunction with various departments within our group, such as claims and business development, enabling a comprehensive approach to underwriting risk and control.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years of related experience preferred.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- CIP or working towards would be considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills, excellent telephony skills, written skills.
- Technical skill and sound judgment required.
- Solutions oriented approach, and desire win with our customers.
- Attention to detail is essential, along with the great organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within the team dynamic.
