Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a critical role in protecting the health and wellbeing of our citizens by implementing environmental public health programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement environmental public health programs for drinking water, food service and supply, communicable disease investigation and control, air quality, solid and liquid waste disposal, community and environmental sanitation, recreational water safety, tobacco control, personal services, disaster/emergency preparedness and response, injury prevention, environmental planning and impact analysis, and control of environmental contaminants.
  • Deliver programs in settings such as restaurants, child care facilities, rental housing, water treatment plants, waste disposal sites, work camps, tourist facilities, and public and non-public spaces.
  • Lead program areas or files to build expertise and ensure continuity of program delivery within the Environmental Health Unit.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health recognized by the Board of Certification, Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.
  • Two (2) years of direct experience in the delivery of environmental public health programs.
