Job Description
The Senior Formulation Manager will oversee the daily operation of the Formulation & Process Development (FPD) group at Evonik Vancouver Laboratories (VAN). This role will establish and promote departmental operations to meet customer expectations, business requirements, and ensure compliance with Evonik's EHS rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and preferences.
- Provide strategic direction for the FPD department, setting plans for CAPEX, processes, and influencing interdepartmental relationships to increase efficiency and profitability.
- Supervise the FPD group with support from an Associate Director and Manager as needed.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to win new programs.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Maintain current scientific knowledge relevant to lipid-based drug-product formulations and processing.
Requirements
- An advanced postgraduate degree preferably in engineering, pharmaceutics, or basic science.
- Credible scientific background preferably with 10+ years' experience in the fast-paced CDMO industry and/or significant experience in a lead role in translating a lipid-based drug delivery formulation from development to clinic.
- A customer-centric mindset with proven experience in successfully leading cultural transformations across multifunctional groups.
- Excellent leadership skills with understanding of how to utilize, deploy, and manage staff.
- Ability to nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Great understanding of operations across various functions, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Production, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
- Emotionally intelligent with ability to work within a chaotic and fast-paced CDMO environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business strategies, i.e., organizational structure, change management, budget development, project management, and strategic staffing plan.
- Knowledge and experience with regulations related to safety and environmental compliance.
- Knowledge of the use of PPE, safety protocols, and practices related to working with or exposure to hazardous chemicals.
