Security Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Security Engineer to contribute to the development of secure software and improve security practices within our product engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and Implement Security Features: Define, implement, and document new security features to enhance the security of our software.
- Lead Security-Oriented Thinking: Drive security-oriented thinking in product engineering teams to ensure the development of secure software.
- Vulnerability Analysis and Fixing: Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in Canonical and open-source software to ensure the highest level of security.
- Community Contributions: Contribute to Ubuntu and upstream projects to benefit the community and enhance security practices.
- Security Infrastructure Integration: Integrate new tools into security infrastructure, pipelines, and processes to streamline security operations.
- Security Certifications: Achieve and retain various security certifications to demonstrate expertise and commitment to security.
- Hardening Automation: Design and develop hardening automation for Ubuntu to ensure the security of our software.
- Security Industry Monitoring: Monitor the security industry for new developments and emerging threats to stay ahead of security risks.
- Software Development: Develop, test, and maintain new software capabilities to enhance security and functionality.
- Exceptional Academic Track Record: Demonstrate an exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
- Computer Science Degree: Hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field, or have a compelling narrative about an alternative path.
- Security Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities and modern engineering techniques to find and fix them.
- Programming Skills: Have skill in one or more of C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, or PHP.
- Security Champion: Have experience as a security champion and driving security within a wider SDLC process.
- Professional English: Possess professional written and spoken English skills.
- Linux Experience: Have experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Communication Skills: Demonstrate clear and effective communication with the team and Ubuntu community members.
- Linux Kernel Experience: Have experience working with the Linux Kernel.
- Security Certifications: Have experience with security certifications and knowledge in FIPS and/or CC.
- OVAL Experience: Have experience with OVAL (Open Vulnerability Assessment Language).
- Low-Level Cryptography: Possess knowledge of and familiarity with low-level Linux cryptography APIs.
- Performance Engineering: Have experience with performance engineering.
