Bennett Jones is a leading business law firm in Canada, recognized as a Best Employer for 23 years. We are seeking a highly skilled bilingual paralegal to join our corporate, real estate, and financial services group in our Montreal office.

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced paralegal to assist our team of lawyers in their real estate and banking/financial services practice. The successful candidate will conduct searches, analyze results, and prepare legal documents related to banking and real estate law. They will also work closely with other paralegals in the corporate law group and provide support on files dealing with various transactional aspects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct searches of public databases and analyze results
  • Prepare legal documents related to banking and real estate law
  • Communicate with title insurers and review insurance policies
  • Research zoning by-laws and prepare summary reports
  • Prepare draft legal documents related to real estate law
  • Analyze security documents for publication
  • Draft transaction documents, such as management certificates and closing agendas

Requirements:

  • High level of writing, understanding, and oral communication in English and French
  • Diploma of College Studies (D.E.C.) in legal techniques or a certificate in law
  • Between 4 to 7 years of experience as a paralegal in a real estate and financial services group
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office suite
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
