Job DescriptionWe are looking for individuals who can work independently and as part of a team to maintain the Southwest Calgary Ring Road, a 31km stretch of six and eight-lane divided freeway. Responsibilities include:
- Setting up traffic accommodations and flagging
- Trimming, mowing, crack sealing, and installing signs, guardrails, and delineators
- Operating minor tools and equipment and performing physical labor
As a Highway Maintenance Crew Member, you will be expected to participate in and apply our safety practices at all times, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment. You must also arrive fit for duty, ready for the work day, and prepared to carry out work safely and efficiently under clear direction.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver's license (Class 5 minimum) with a recent 5-year abstract and reliable transportation
- Previous experience in equipment operation, particularly tractors, mowers, trimmers, skid-steers, pickup trucks, and trailers
- Road maintenance construction experience, such as trimming, mowing, crack sealing, and traffic accommodation setup
- The ability to work long shifts up to 12 hours, including some night shifts, and overtime hours when required
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
