Job Summary

We are seeking a Horticultural Therapist - Independent Contractor to join our team at The Village of Wentworth in Hamilton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement gardening-based activities to support the physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being of our residents.
  • Work collaboratively with the Recreation Team to develop and deliver programs that contribute to a resident's holistic health care goals.
  • Provide hands-on experiences for residents, including planting seeds and caring for plants indoors and outdoors.
  • Support residents to learn, grow, find life purpose, and meaning through gardening-based activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with residents, their families, and the Village team to deliver holistic care.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or completed a Degree in Horticulture Therapy or equivalent.
  • Completed the required 480 hours of internship.
  • Eligible member of the Canadian Horticulture Therapy Association.
  • Previous experience working with seniors is an asset.
  • Knowledge of therapy practices, methods, techniques, and opportunities to improve resident's well-being and holistic health.
  • Understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007.
