The Controller and Finance Leader will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of finance, including managing corporate accounting, financial reporting, and investments. They will also lead and develop the Finance team, driving process improvements and optimizing financial management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage staff, including providing ongoing coaching and professional development
  • Manage daily finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset management, general ledger, payroll, and banking
  • Contribute to the budget and forecast preparation
  • Monitor the financial results throughout the year, collaborating with departments to align financial goals with business objectives and presenting budget variances
  • Manage working capital requirements and investment
  • Develop and measure KPIs to achieve departmental goals in support of corporate objectives
  • Maximize the efficiency and productivity of CANARIE's accounting systems, including the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, payroll, and banking
  • Develop, implement, and monitor finance policies
  • Develop, prepare, and analyze financial reports
  • Manage tax and other accounting-related compliance filings
  • Prepare and submit accurate financial reports to government funders, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and deadlines
  • Manage all audit processes, including annual and compliance audits
