Electrotechnician

Viterra is seeking a skilled Electrotechnician to join our team at our Grain terminal in the Port of Montreal. As an Electrotechnician, you will be responsible for performing moderate to semi-skilled work related to the efficient, safe and timely installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in the installation and performance of preventive maintenance on all facility electrical equipment and components, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Assist in the installation and repair of various distribution panels, motor control centers, and other electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of electrical equipment and components, including recommending replacement stock as required, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide shift response to trouble calls and complete required repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to facility operations.
  • Maintain a basic knowledge and familiarity with ethernet protocols, hardware, and wiring systems, including fiber-optic and cat5, to support facility operations.
  • Communicate required information clearly to manage and operate facility, ensuring effective collaboration with colleagues and supervisors.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to work in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Familiarity with Modbus+ and Profibus communications protocols, hardware, media, and communications, to support facility operations.
  • Ability to work on small projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Working knowledge of automated systems, including electrical control systems and instrumentation.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Licence C is a mandatory requirement, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Journeyman Electrician certification, demonstrating expertise in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge, skill, and competence will be considered.
