Job Summary

As a Loss Control Specialist at Verisk, you will play a critical role in assessing residential properties to identify potential risks and hazards. Your expertise will help insurance companies prevent losses and reduce the frequency and severity of claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments with clients to conduct on-site assessments of residential properties.
  • Travel to properties, tour, and assess for risk features, taking photographs and measurements as needed.
  • Review property features, including fire prevention systems, heating equipment, and fuel storage tanks, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Assess building construction, electrical, heating systems, and plumbing installations to identify potential hazards and defects.
  • Prepare detailed reports using internal systems, highlighting risk assessment and replacement cost value.
Accountabilities
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive reports, free from errors or omissions.
  • Contribute to the team's overall revenue goals by identifying opportunities for loss prevention.
  • Continuously expand your expertise to assess more complex properties and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
Requirements
  • Education in insurance, construction, home inspections, real estate appraisals, or engineering.
  • Experience with building codes, residential construction, building restoration, or as a home inspector.
  • Proficiency in using database software, typing speed and accuracy, and word processing.
  • Bilingualism in English and French.
