Job Summary:

The Perioperative Nurse is a key member of the surgical team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the operating room. As a Registered Nurse, you will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care to patients undergoing surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide perioperative patient care using the nursing process, following established standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless care transitions and effective communication.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans, taking into account individual patient needs and preferences.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient operating room environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and empowerment.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a perioperative setting, with a strong understanding of surgical procedures and patient care.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to motivate and support colleagues.
