The NEXUS Community Support Society is seeking an HR Support Specialist to provide expert guidance and support to managers and employees within our assigned community portfolios. As a key member of our HR team, you will play a critical role in shaping the employee experience and driving business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Guidance and Support: Serve as the first point of contact for Managers, providing HR guidance and support on all human resources aspects.
  • Recruitment and Employee Relations: Advise on and assist with recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding. Provide expertise on employee relations issues, helping Managers with conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Operational HR Support: Ensure the timely and accurate management of HR processes such as leave tracking, performance reviews, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with Program Directors to understand and address specific HR needs within their programs.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with provincial employment laws, health and safety regulations, and collective agreements. Assist with preparing HR-related reports and performance metrics for management and leadership teams.

Requirements:

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation is an asset.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in HR, preferably in the social services or healthcare sector.
  • Experience with labour relations, collective agreements, and conflict resolution is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
