Job Title: Elementary Education Professional

Sikh Academy Elementary School is a progressive educational institution located in the heart of Surrey, BC. We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Elementary Education Professional to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Elementary Education Professional to teach all areas of the elementary curriculum, as per the BC Ministry Guidelines and the new BC Curriculum. The successful candidate will create a positive and caring learning environment, integrate teaching practices and strategies that consider the new BC Curriculum, and plan, prepare, and present lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within their class.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach all areas of the elementary curriculum, as per the BC Ministry Guidelines and the new BC Curriculum
  • Create a positive and caring learning environment
  • Integrate teaching practices and strategies that consider the new BC Curriculum
  • Plan, prepare, and present lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within their class
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation
  • Develop and implement positive classroom management strategies
  • Meet requirements for effective assessment of students' development (including record keeping)
  • Coordinate activities and resources and support colleagues in the delivery of the curriculum
  • Work with others to plan and coordinate work
  • Keep up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum and teaching strategies
  • Organize and take part in school events, outings, and activities
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly
  • Work with parents and administrators to maximize opportunities for students
Requirements:
  • Completed education in North America
  • Professional Teaching Certificate valid in British Columbia
  • Fluent communication in English
