Salary

The hourly rate for this position starts at $52/hour and increases based on experience. Additionally, you will be eligible for incentives up to 7.5% of your regular base earnings.

Job DescriptionPatient Care & Customer Service
  • Filling prescriptions, evaluating appropriateness, maintaining records according to the Alberta Pharmaceutical Association guidelines and Calgary Co-op Pharmacy policies.
  • Providing information and patient-oriented advice to customers concerning prescription medication and over-the-counter products.
  • Maintaining awareness of Calgary Co-op Pharmacy contracts, customer care and service standards, policies, and procedures while ensuring high-level security.
Pharmacy Operations
  • Familiarity with merchandise carried in the department and awareness of new products and trends in the pharmaceutical and retail pharmacy industry.
  • Supervising and assisting in perpetual inventory processes, ordering prescription and dispensary products, and other over-the-counter products.
  • Maintaining prescription product inventories and levels consistent with budgeted targets while meeting customer requirements for maximum sales and satisfaction.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assisting in department operating objectives, preparing reports, compiling statistics, processing invoices, preparing claims, and preparing Business Plans and Budgets.
  • Participating in year-end performance reviews and development action plans.
  • Caring for equipment and maintaining the general appearance of the department when not occupied with pharmaceutical care delivery.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc. Pharm)
  • Licensed and registered with Alberta College of Pharmacists
  • Superior patient relations with a strong sense of professionalism
  • Authorization to Administer Medications by Injection
  • Previous retail pharmacy experience (desirable)

Additionally, pharmacists working in the dispensary must obtain Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) designation within one year of the effective start date as a pharmacist. New graduates will have two years to obtain their APA designation.
