At District Mechanical, we are seeking a skilled Steamfitter Pipefitter to join our team.



About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems, including steam and water distribution lines, in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.



Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:




  • Scheduling materials, tools, and personnel to ensure efficient project completion
  • Liaising with management, engineers, and other trades to coordinate project activities
  • Instructing apprentices and other personnel to ensure a high level of skill development and knowledge transfer
  • Installing clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping systems and sprinkler and fire protection equipment
  • Installing valves, alarms, and associated equipment
  • Joining pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment
  • Supervising other workers and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
  • Testing systems for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining pipe units and fittings and flushing systems
  • Cutting openings for pipes in walls, floors, and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
  • Installing supports, valves, piping, and control systems
  • Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipes to required shape and size
  • Removing and replacing worn components and reactivating systems
  • Selecting type and size of pipe required
  • Testing systems for leaks using testing equipment
  • Welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping systems
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
  • Climbing and working aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:




  • A Registered Apprenticeship certificate
  • Steamfitter and Pipefitter Trade Certification
  • Steamfitter and Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate
  • Fall Arrest Protection Training Course
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Own transportation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy loads and work in physically demanding conditions
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, engineers, and other trades
