Job Summary

We are seeking a Laboratory Sanitation Technician to join our team in Markham, ON. As a Laboratory Sanitation Technician, you will be responsible for providing basic assistance to the operations of the laboratory washing containers used in the process of testing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Wash containers used in analysis.
  • Maintain a safe clean work area around the sink.
  • Maintain clean laboratory by discarding waste and cleaning and sanitizing countertops, walls, floors, shelves, equipment, sinks, water baths, etc., using cleaning solvents.
  • Maintain a clean laboratory by properly storing chemicals, reagents, and supplies. Maintain adequate stock of these materials.
  • Organize laboratory glassware and plastics.
  • Decontaminate laboratory materials through the use of the autoclave.
  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions.
  • Required skills: routine tasks that follow established procedures, knowledge of the area, and advice of the supervisor to solve problems.

Work Environment

The incumbent works in a laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. The incumbent works in a laboratory with increased temperatures near the autoclave and washer. Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat, and eyeglasses may need to be worn. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds may be necessary. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position.
