Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Vista Projects Limited. This role is responsible for participating in the design of various energy industry projects from inception to completion.

About the Role
  • Develop and implement process designs for projects, including normal process units
  • Provide comprehensive engineering services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, drawings, models, and bills of material in accordance with project requirements
  • Participate in the design of component parts and individual units
  • Exercise cost/budget control, reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with estimates and project specifications
  • Review and maintain project schedules, tracking engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management
  • Supervise activities involved in designing complex process units
  • Perform detailed calculations
  • Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs as required
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff
  • Interface with client representatives
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards
  • Review vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements
  • Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasks
  • Adhere to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standards
  • Assign and outline work for others, reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy
  • Actively steward change management related to scopes of work
  • Prepare discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposals
  • Provide construction support
  • Authenticate documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required
Requirements
  • Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry
  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering or applied science
  • Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel
  • P.Eng. registration with APEGA
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, technical competence, and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and efficient in time management
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards
  • Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
