Senior Fire Protection Systems Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Senior Fire Protection Systems Design Engineer to join our team at CEP Forensic Inc. in downtown Toronto.

As a key member of our engineering team, you will provide expert engineering services backed by extensive knowledge of relevant Fire and Building Codes.

Job Summary

This role involves providing design, design review, and project management services for fire protection systems in buildings, applying Canadian provincial and national Building and Fire Codes, CAN/ULC, NFPA standards, and best practice guidelines related to Fire Protection Systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and manage projects involving the assessment, installation, and commissioning of fire protection systems in medium to large-scale projects, including high-rise mixed-use, commercial, infrastructure, multiple towers, and healthcare buildings.
  • Collaborate with contractors and cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Provide interpretations of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and ULC/NFPA standards to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the performance of existing sprinkler, standpipe, fire water pumps, and special suppression systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending cost-effective solutions.
  • Conduct site visits to gather data on existing conditions, review construction, and attend tests and commissioning of the systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Fire Protection Systems engineering and project management, with expertise in sprinklers and pump systems.
  • Proven track record of working on complex projects, including those involving multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
