Job Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in driving business objectives by providing financial insights and analytical support to the Sun Brand team. This role will involve working closely with leaders to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results, as well as analyzing and preparing financial reports and forecasts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison with the head of Brand, brand portfolio heads, and Finance in reviewing financial results and providing value-added analysis and financial support to the Sun Brand business.
  • Weekly analysis and insight of revenue trends, including gross to net sales and net margin within the Sun Brand portfolio.
  • Analyze and prepare reporting, including analysis of variances, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Support key business partners with profitability analysis, expense tracking, and variance analysis, providing decision support to help grow and improve profitability.
  • Participate in the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with overall business goals.
  • Review sales agreements and expenditures to ensure eligibility, proper authorization, and compliance with Sun policies and guidelines.
  • Proactively engage as a valued business partner in ad hoc projects, including participation in initiatives impacting pretax profit and support other Sun Canada planning initiatives as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting &/or Finance and working towards or completed Professional Accounting designation (CPA).
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive financial experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a detail-oriented environment and possess the desire to learn new and challenging skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access, including financial modeling or other relevant financial modeling tools.
  • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Technical and financial knowledge, including internal control requirements and accounting principles.
  • Good analytical skills with familiarity with accounting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • SAP ERP system experience is an asset.
  • Financial planning experience is an asset.
  • Management cost accounting experience is an asset.

Working Conditions

Office-based.
