Automation Engineer Job Description

Our client, a fast-growing company manufacturing automated conveyor systems, is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join their Terrebonne team. This position is ideal for creative engineers who are passionate about technical challenges and want to devote themselves fully to the design and optimization of innovative R&D solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with project managers and the existing R&D technical team to develop a state-of-the-art robotic system to automate the storage of garments on hangers for global e-commerce platforms.
  • Assume an active role in R&D, involving both computer-aided design work and hands-on experimentation in the company's dedicated laboratory to test and evaluate robot behavior.
  • Take charge of end-to-end automation tasks, including PLC programming, IT systems management, and supervision of electrical panel design.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to contribute to the development and design of the system's mechanical components.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in automated production engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, or robotics engineering.
  2. 2 to 7 years' experience in a related field.
  3. Innovative and creative, with a passion for technical challenges.
  4. Good knowledge of PLC/HMI systems and GRAFCET, ladder, ST programming, and Beckhoff programming languages.
  5. Good electrical knowledge (control and power).
  6. Bilingual, English and French, to communicate with internal and external suppliers and customers.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and in an R&D environment.
  8. Knowledge of mechanical systems and experience in an R&D environment.
