Job SummaryWe are seeking a qualified Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in the Medical Unit. This is a regular part-time position with various shifts available, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
CompensationThe hourly rate for this position is $35.09-$37.05 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
ResponsibilitiesThis role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients whose conditions are stabilized. You will administer treatments as ordered by physicians and assigned by the Patient Care Manager. Additionally, you will observe and enforce infection control principles and aseptic techniques required in the prevention of nosocomial and communicable diseases.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you must have:
- A Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current B.C.L.S. certification
- Coronary Care I course (Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation) or willingness to complete within 3 months
- Proven ability to work at full scope of practice
- Proven related and effective experience in a Medical Unit or similar environment
- Updated nursing skills, including Aseptic Techniques and Patient Assessment courses
- Current certificate in Medication Administration
- Knowledge and experience in wound care
- Proven sound judgement, good observation, tact, and empathy
- Effective organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to effectively prioritize work
- Ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations
