About the Opportunity

Schneider Electric is seeking a skilled Electrical Application Engineer to join our team in Edmonton. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on electrical distribution equipment control, metering, and protection projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and manage low voltage distribution equipment orders.
  2. Analyze customer specifications, drawings, and power system requirements to inform design decisions.
  3. Conduct technical reviews to ensure compliance with customer specifications, quotations, and applicable standards.
  4. Create and verify engineering documentation, including single line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
  5. Evaluate designs against applicable product standards (CSA/UL) and ensure compliance.
  6. Oversee and verify designer work on assigned projects.
  7. Collaborate with field sales forces and plant manufacturing personnel to drive project success.
  8. Work closely with engineers to develop design and application expertise.
  9. Explore innovative solutions through shop floor implementation and knowledge sharing.
  10. Support manufacturing and provide technical guidance as needed.
  11. Attend various meetings (technical reviews, kick-off, production, etc.) to ensure project success.
  12. Manage project timelines and deliverables.
  13. Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  2. Leadership skills and experience in electrical engineering desired.
  3. 3-5 years of experience in a similar position or related field.
  4. Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, and other design software.
  5. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  6. Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards (ANSI/IEEE, CSA, HQ, etc.).
  7. Experience with low voltage and/or medium voltage distribution equipment design.
  8. Switchboard and MCC design experience a strong asset.
  9. Manufacturing experience preferred.
