About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team at Pearson's Your Independent Grocer. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for cutting and preparing high-quality meats for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cutting and trimming meats to prepare for processing or cutting
- Cutting, trimming, and preparing standard cuts of meat
- Wrapping and packaging prepared meats
- Removing bones from meat
- Weighing meats for sale
- Cutting poultry into parts
- Prising meat products
- Cleaning and preparing fish and shellfish
- Selling meats to customers
- Cutting fish into steaks and fillets
- Supervising other butchers, meat cutters, and fishmongers
- Grinding meats
- Training meat cutters
- Making special sausages
- Preparing special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products
- Shaping, lacing, and tying roasts, other meats, poultry, and seafood
- Preparing special orders
Requirements:
- 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a similar role
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and physical stamina
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle heavy loads
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions:
- Standing for extended periods
- Working in a cold/refrigerated environment
- Exposure to odours
