The Aboriginal Affairs Specialist role at Employment and Social Development Canada is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of policies and programs that support Indigenous peoples. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with internal stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that promote Indigenous self-determination and self-government.
About the PositionThis position requires a skilled and motivated individual who can work effectively with internal stakeholders and external Indigenous parties to achieve our goals. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Aboriginal affairs, policy development, and program implementation. They will also possess excellent research and analysis skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the development of policies and programs that support Indigenous peoples
- Work with internal stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that promote Indigenous self-determination and self-government
- Collaborate with external Indigenous parties to identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration
- Provide guidance and support to staff on Indigenous-related issues
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and current issues, as well as excellent research and analysis skills. They will also need to be proficient in both official languages, English and French, and willing to travel.
