Physics Lecturer

The University of British Columbia is seeking a Physics Lecturer to join its faculty. The successful candidate will teach introductory physics courses to undergraduate students, including PHYS 157 and PHYS 118. The lecturer will be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging classes, developing evaluations, and interacting with students through office hours and online tools.
The lecturer will also coordinate teaching teams, manage teaching assistants, and update course materials and tutorial activities. Additionally, the lecturer will teach in the First-Year Seminar in Science (SCIE 113), a small seminar-style course that focuses on teaching oral and written communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD or MSc in physics or astronomy, with experience teaching large-enrollment undergraduate classes using interactive approaches. They will also have exceptional communication, organizational, and teaching skills, as well as a record of excellence in teaching.
The position is a three-year contract, subject to demonstration of satisfactory performance by the end of the first year. The lecturer will be eligible for a professional development leave of four months (with 80% salary for the period of the leave) every six years.
