Senior Buyer Position

The Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay has a rewarding opportunity for a full-time Senior Buyer. As a Senior Buyer, you will lead the procurement of assigned commodities and provide technical guidance on procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement of assigned commodities and provide technical guidance on procurement processes.
  • Prepare and summarize competitive bids, draft Purchase Orders, and maintain awareness of price structures and relevant legislation.
  • Prepare, issue, and facilitate all steps within a procurement process, from scope review to contract award/execution.
  • Authorize and participate in emergency purchases within established guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate spend and competitively procure goods/services.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a secondary school graduation or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, as well as Supply Chain Management Association's (SCMA) Certificate in Supply Management or Ontario Public Buyers Association's (OPBA) Public Purchasing Certificate.
