Senior Project Engineer - Water Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team at Nicholas O'Dwyer. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design, procurement, and construction administration of water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of feasibility studies, route and site selections, and concept design reports
  • Preparation of technical specifications and contract documents for main works and investigation contracts
  • Preparation of all documentation required for statutory approvals, including planning permissions and land acquisition
  • Construction stage contract administration
  • Developing detailed project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
  • Leading and managing water engineering projects from inception to completion
  • Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project compliance with applicable regulations and standards
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to project teams
  • Performing site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, quality, and adherence to specifications
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Monitoring and controlling project costs, including tracking expenses and managing change orders
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks and implementing effective risk management strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in water engineering, with a focus on feasibility study, detailed design, planning approvals, procurement, and construction contract administration of water infrastructure projects
  • 2 years' experience working on Irish water utility projects for Design-Build Contractors or similar experience working in a client-facing role
  • Strong knowledge of water engineering principles, practices, and regulations
  • Proficiency in design of water infrastructure projects and analysis software
  • Strong knowledge of various contract forms for construction contracts
  • Proven track record in successfully managing water engineering projects of varying complexity
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet project milestones
