Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance/Certified Millwright to join our team at Canfor. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our sawmill equipment, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on sawmill equipment, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers, and chains.
  • Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Manage time effectively to assess and prioritize maintenance tasks, and make decisions on when to assemble, move, replace, or dismantle machinery.
  • Apply knowledge, skills, and experience to troubleshoot issues, boost equipment reliability, and implement safe and reliable fixes to keep the mill running.
  • Have a high degree of attention to detail to identify and request relevant parts to complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Be accountable for assisting in a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and visitors on site.

Requirements:

  • Red Seal Certification considered an asset but not required.
  • Physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • High degree of urgency.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers.
  • Knowledge of the lumber or industrial manufacturing process is an asset, as well as experience with welding procedures and equipment reliability.
