Job Summary

Spark Power Corp is seeking a highly skilled Intermediate Protection & Control Specialist to join our team in Alberta. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing programming, testing, and verification of protection and control devices in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field testing, verification, and programming of various Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) from leading manufacturers.
  • Inspect, test, operate, and troubleshoot AC and DC control and protection wiring schematics.
  • Read and interpret electrical AC and DC schematics, AC three-line diagrams, logic diagrams, and Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs).
  • Maintain or commission power distribution equipment, including power transformers, circuit breakers, HV switches, and instrument transformers.
  • Be familiar with industry-specific codes and standards, including AESO, AUEC, IEEE, and NETA.
  • Travel 70-80% of the time for out-of-town commissioning or maintenance projects.
  • Report, record, compute, and process electrical test information in accordance with accepted standard practices.
  • Coordinate day-to-day functions on a job-by-job basis, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
Requirements
  • 2-5 years of experience in Protection and Control (P&C)
  • 2-year Electrical Engineering Technology diploma from NAIT or SAIT, or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Registered or eligible to register with ASET or APEGA
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to provide technical leadership
