Strategic People and Culture Leader

About the Role:
The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking an experienced leader to fill the position of Vice-President, People and Culture. This individual will be responsible for championing progressive people and culture strategies, ensuring UPEI is an employer of choice, and fostering a healthy, fair, inclusive, safe, and productive culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of people and culture strategies aligned with UPEI's mission and values.
- Provide leadership towards promoting trust and well-being, advancing equity and diversity, and fostering a culture grounded in HR and EDI best practices.
- Collaborate with all members of the University community to promote a positive learning and working environment.
- Lead a new, dynamic, well-resourced portfolio that includes Human Resources, EDI and Human Rights, and the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office.
Requirements:
- An advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Several years of progressive leadership experience in human resources or a relevant area, ideally earned within a unionized post-secondary environment or in an organization of comparable complexity.
- Experience in labour relations, employee engagement and wellness, workplace relations, training and development, and recruitment and retention.
- An understanding of administering organizational equity, inclusion, human rights, and sexual violence prevention and response initiatives ideally in a campus community.
