Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Field Evaluations Representative to join our team at CSA Group. As a key member of our Product Group, you will provide Special Inspection and US Field Evaluation services to clients located mainly in Quebec and, on some occasions, to customers in other countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical evaluations of non-certified equipment according to the SPE-1000 code (or in combination with other applicable requirements) to ensure product meets technical requirements and is free of potential for fire and shock hazards.
  • Communicate with clients in a professional manner to schedule inspection appointments, review costing procedures, answer questions, and provide technical information service and direction based on the scope of the Field Evaluation program.
  • Document technical reports for required alterations to sub-standard equipment with sufficient detail.
  • Review details of corrective action with client.
  • Conduct research on technical and procedural issues, including technical research on standards, SI Guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Lab and colleagues with respect to procedural issues, interpretation and past practices.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Technology or equivalent (i.e. electrician, or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering).
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in related field.
  • Certification/Lab Testing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, as well as general laboratory procedures.

Skills:

  • Bilingualism (French, written and spoken) is essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple inspection files and changing schedules and deadlines with supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings and test data as required to complete assigned duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; self-starter; good decision-making skills and organizational skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills to be able to handle difficult situations.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Microsoft Outlook).
  • Usage of calibrated measurement instruments, high voltage test equipment, hand tools.
