Design Engineer - Mechanical Systems

Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec, is seeking a skilled Design Engineer - Mechanical Systems to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering designs for various projects, including industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, using Revit and other design tools.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs meet client requirements and adhere to industry standards.
  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications for delivery to clients.
  • Liaise with clients to exchange information regarding project progress.
  • Develop and maintain building mechanical models, drawings, and schedules using Revit.
  • Identify discrepancies in drawings and information and resolve them through appropriate methods and channels.
  • Prepare site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients.
  • Review shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability.

Requirements:

  • Technologist diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit 3D modeling is an asset.
  • Prior experience in mechanical systems, specifically related to industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings - preferably in the consulting engineering industry is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of building service, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection.
  • Experience with quality control and production scheduling is preferred.
  • Ability to liaise with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and conflicting demands on time with a rapidly shifting workload.
  • Strong time management skills.
