About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our Retail Media Platform team at Loblaw Digital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex backend systems that enable external advertisers to create, manage, and report advertising campaigns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable and efficient backend systems using Java 8+, Spring Boot, and other relevant technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including FE developers, ML engineers, and analytics teams, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features.
  • Work closely with the Senior Software Engineering Manager to prioritize and manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers and other team members to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve our software, environment, and processes.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience with a strong background in Java 8+, Spring Boot, and other relevant technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with software estimation, complexity, and uncertainty, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong understanding of systems and microservices design, security architecture, and cloud architecture in GCP or similar cloud architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Swagger, Hoverfly, Hibernate, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, GCP, GitLab, GitLab CI, Sonarqube, and other relevant tools and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, systems and microservices design, security architecture, and cloud architecture.
  • CI/CD experience with GitLab IC, Jenkins, Team City, and other relevant tools.
