VCA Canada Animal Hospitals is proud to offer Practicum Placements for students pursuing a career in veterinary technology. Our comprehensive program provides hands-on experience in a real-world setting, allowing you to apply your classroom knowledge and develop essential skills.
Program Highlights- Gain practical experience in a variety of departments, including triage, ICU, critical care, anesthesia, and surgery
- Develop technical skills, such as venipuncture, IV placement, catheterization, pain management, and physical examinations
- Learn how to electronically capture, update, and store patient files
- Exposure to varying cases requiring different support and skills
- Opportunity to work in multiple departments, including ER and Specialty hospitals
- Current Canadian student enrolled in a Veterinary Technician/Technologist or Animal Health Technician/Technologist program
- Ability to repeatedly lift 40lbs
- Exceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty
- Compassionate and nurturing attitude providing care to clients and patients
- Work effectively as a team player
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations
- Initiative in carrying out assignments independently
