We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Test and Sustaining team. As a key member of our engineering leadership, you will be responsible for developing and executing departmental roadmaps, deploying and maintaining technical expertise enhancements, and providing timely technical and financial estimates to internal customers.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a team of multi-discipline hardware staff, including Product Sustaining, Test Development, and Component Engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain a five-year departmental roadmap and annual strategic plan.
- Prepare financial operational and capital acquisition budgets.
- Suggest, plan, and lead continuous improvements projects.
- Provide technical and financial estimates to internal customers.
- Responsible for hiring, developing, and training staff to deliver required support and development capability with innovative solutions.
- Produce employee performance reports and develop personnel career paths.
- Maintain employees' skill set matrices.
- Review team projects' technical progress and performance through program reviews, providing KPI metrics and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Enhance departmental procedures and interfaces with related departments to increase synergies.
- Provide oversight for obsolescence management, last time buy, warranty, and other lifecycle support requirements.
- Coordinate, review, and approve design estimates for Test, Sustaining, and development activities.
- Participate in product development activities using Design For Testability (DFT) concepts to develop test solutions with maximum test coverage.
To succeed in this role, you must have a strong background in engineering, preferably with experience in a supervisory or managerial role. You should possess excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team of technical staff. Additionally, you should have experience in preparation and presentation of executive-level briefings, be highly self-motivated, and have a good understanding of financial concepts, risk management, estimating concepts, and industry practices.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of experience in engineering, with at least five years in a supervisory/managerial role. A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent is required, and bilingualism in oral and written French and English is an asset.
