Job Summary

Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Children's Programs and Public Service Assistant. As a key member of our Public Services team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and creating engaging experiences for our diverse community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide information, reference, and readers' advisory services to patrons of all ages.
  • Develop, implement, and conduct children's programs that promote literacy, learning, and fun.
  • Assist with circulation and page services, including shelving, processing, and maintaining library collections.
  • Perform routine collection maintenance duties, such as sorting, shelving, and processing library materials.
  • Work effectively as a team member to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Completion of a 2-year college diploma in Library and Information Technician, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience working with children's programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
