Job Title: Animal Care Attendant
We are seeking a dedicated Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the BC SPCA. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of the animals in our care.
About the Position:
You will be working closely with our Animal Centre Manager to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities, as well as ensuring that animals receive optimal levels of care based on the Five Freedoms. Your strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment will be essential in this role.
- Maintain the physical plant in a clean, sanitary, and efficient manner
- Ensure kennels, runs, and cat cages are kept in a manner that promotes animal health and wellbeing
- Monitor animal health and welfare through regular checks and record-keeping
- Provide daily care and enrichment for animals, including feeding, watering, exercise, and grooming
- Treat animals humanely and with compassion, in accordance with the BC SPCA's five freedoms
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service, as well as excellent communication and team skills. You will also need to have a valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and a sound knowledge of animal breeds, characteristics, and common diseases.
