Estimated Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 per year

Job Description:

As a Marine Crew Member, your primary responsibilities will include preparing nets, lines, and fishing tackle, operating fishing gear, repairing nets, splicing ropes, and cleaning deck surfaces. You will also be responsible for cooking meals for crew members, cleaning, sorting, and packing fish in ice, and stowing catch in the hold.

Fishing and Deck Maintenance:

  • Prepare and maintain fishing gear, including nets, lines, and tackle.
  • Operate and repair fishing equipment, including nets and engines.
  • Clean and maintain deck surfaces, ensuring a safe working environment.

Cooking and Food Preparation:

  • Prepare and cook meals for crew members, following proper food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized galley, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.

Catch Handling and Processing:

  • Clean, sort, and pack fish in ice, ensuring optimal quality and freshness.
  • Stow catch in the hold, following established protocols and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Commercial Fishing Licence.
  • Ability to work at sea for extended periods, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a close-knit team.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy loads, as required.
