About the Role


The Oil Sands and North Montney Joint Venture Asset Engineer will be based in Sinopec Canada's Calgary head office and report to the Vice President – Oil Sands & North Montney Joint Venture. Key responsibilities include reviewing operator materials, supporting technical, economic, and strategy analysis related to Oil Sands & NMJV assets, maintaining and updating business plan models, and delivering conclusions and recommendations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Review operator materials and support technical, economic, and strategy analysis related to Oil Sands & NMJV assets.
  • Maintain and update Oil Sands and NMJV short- and long-term business plan models and deliver conclusions and recommendations.
  • Support the development and review of annual budgets and long-range business plan development activities.
  • Support project initiatives, including studies and analysis for Oil Sands and NMJV matters as required.
  • Support the development of recommendations for solutions related to Oil Sands and NMJV assets.
  • Represent Sinopec Canada at JV partner meetings on Oil Sands and NMJV as required.
  • Support commercial discussions and negotiations for Oil Sands and NMJV matters as required.
  • Manage related mail ballots and AFE queries from external partners and internal departments, including reviews and approvals from Land, Accounting and Engineering as required.
  • Lead development of responses for Sinopec HQ information requests.
  • Support Oil Sands & NMJV team on day-to-day matters as required.
  • Coordinate with various Sinopec Canada departments including Finance, Legal, Surface Land, HSE, Business Development, and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams as required.
  • Other activities related to the role.

Requirements


  • Economic evaluation and modeling, reserves, long-term planning, and data analytics experiences or combination are required.
  • Previous operational engineering experience would be considered an asset.
  • Succeed in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work in a team and independently on multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to meet goals and objectives with designated timeframes for successful execution.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills combined with analytical, facilitation, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
  • Independent problem solver with a high level of critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to share experience and knowledge in a credible/compelling manner.
  • Oil and Gas asset management experience are considered assets.
  • Experience working with international partners and/or multinational organizations are considered assets.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
