Job Summary


At CN, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Railway Maintenance Equipment Heavy Duty Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented mechanic to perform complex repairs, overhauls, and servicing of rail maintenance equipment.



About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:



  • Performing minor and major repairs, overhauls, and servicing of all types of rail maintenance equipment, attachments, and material handling equipment;
  • Operating and maintaining electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication, and other repair equipment;
  • Recording details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures;
  • Working closely and keeping in regular communication with management;
  • Upholding all applicable health and safety policies;
  • Performing repairs outside in all weather conditions at varying times of the day;
  • Operating and maintaining a service truck in accordance with standards;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:



  • Experience in electric and gas welding equipment;
  • An interprovincial red seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or equivalent, with experience; 4th-year apprentices may be considered;
  • Own hand tools up to 1 1⁄4";
  • The ability to lift 50lbs;
  • A willingness to travel within BC/AB on assigned work cycles;
  • A valid Class (5) Driver's License.


Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement savings plan.
