First Choice Haircutters is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Stylist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest service, understanding their needs, and performing services requested in a competent and professional manner.

The Apprenticeship Program at First Choice Haircutters will provide you with the required hours of practical training experience, covering mandated subjects, to obtain your license while working under the supervision of a journeyperson/licensed stylist. You will be accountable for practicing and acquiring all performance objectives, providing guests with excellent service, and offering a full range of hair care services, including cutting, styling, coloring, washing, and perming hair, as well as providing wax treatments.

To be successful in this role, you must be eligible to register as an apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario and have on-the-floor experience. You must also be legally entitled to work in Canada. Additionally, you will be required to perform administrative tasks, such as completing transactions on the computerized register, performing close-out procedures, and light housekeeping duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional guest service and understand their needs
  • Perform services requested in a competent and professional manner
  • Offer a full range of hair care services, including cutting, styling, coloring, washing, and perming hair, as well as providing wax treatments
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as completing transactions on the computerized register, performing close-out procedures, and light housekeeping duties

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for sustained periods of time
  • Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds
  • Continuous repetitive movement with fingers, hands, wrists, and arms
  • Continuous grasping and reaching, often above shoulder level
  • Ability to be exposed to various chemicals and fragrances used in performing services
  • Ability to observe guest's hair, including close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to communicate with guest regarding services offered and requested and the guest's needs and wants
