Role Overview

This position is responsible for supporting the Maintenance function by preventing and repairing electrical breakdowns and facility requirements. The successful candidate will be accountable for:

  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical issues in our plants
  • Maintaining electrical hardware, including motors, switchboards, and other electrical mechanisms
  • Performing preventative maintenance schedules as required
  • Troubleshooting and programming machinery using various PLC formats
  • Collaborating with Maintenance Mechanics/Millwrights in a trouble-shooting capacity
  • Completing check sheets and records related to the electrician function
  • Instructing maintenance apprentices in trade-related tasks and skills
  • Modifying machinery and equipment, and overhauling machines as directed
  • Preparing and distributing machine reports and downtime reports
  • Suggesting preventative measures to minimize or eliminate breakdowns
  • Assisting in the installation and commissioning of equipment
  • Responsible for electrical installations of new equipment, and re-siting of equipment as per electrical code
  • Working in a competent manner and always following the current Ontario Electrical Code
  • Serving as a member of the Emergency Response Team
  • Being aware of the relevance and importance of their activities and how it affects quality and the environment for our customers

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Completion of specialized trade courses and/or apprenticeship/certification
  • 3 to less than 5 years of work-related experience
  • Minimum certified tradesman (industrial electrician)
  • Minimum of 1 year directly related trade experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, not including apprenticeship
  • Must have an exceptional safety record
