Principal Scientist, Chemical Sciences

The Chemical Sciences group at Paraza is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven individual to join our team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in modern medicinal chemistry and be able to analyze complex data sets, demonstrate sound decision-making and analytical skills, and provide creative proposals and solutions to advance on-going projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead laboratory research, driving the conception, planning, and execution of the scientific stages of research in drug discovery programs.
  • Establish project strategy with input from supervisor, design, execute, and interpret complex laboratory experiments with broad priorities set by management or clients.
  • Conceive and generate significant new ideas around synthetic or medicinal chemistry.
  • Provide creative and innovative approaches to resolve research problems.
  • May be responsible for the leadership of a project, proposing plans, having a strategic view of the project, maximizing team performance, and understanding scientific findings and translating them into non-scientific language, as required.
  • Conceive and write technical reports and manuscripts.
  • Have a significant impact on department performance, ensuring that laboratory safety and generally-accepted lab practices are implemented.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Organic/Synthetic/Medicinal Chemistry with 8 to 12 years of experience in a related field.
  • Sc. in Organic/Synthetic/Medicinal Chemistry with 13 to 15 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical field.
  • Supervisory experience and good leadership skills will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to build the Project Team into a dedicated and enthusiastic unit.
  • Strong use of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and in French.
