Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified Part-Time Professor to teach a course on Control Systems in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Ottawa.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a course on Control Systems to undergraduate students
  • Develop and deliver lecture materials, including slides, notes, and assignments
  • Assess student performance and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development
Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a strong background in Control Systems and Electrical Engineering, with a Ph.D. in a related field. They must also have teaching experience and be licensed as a Professional Engineer.

Applicants must provide a detailed CV, a cover letter, and contact information for at least three professional references.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a course on Control Systems, which will include topics such as state space modeling, controllability, observability, poles and zeros, minimal realizations, state and output feedback, spectral assignability, pole placement techniques, full and reduced order observers, separation principle, compensator design using observers, introduction to optimal control, linear quadratic problem, algebraic Riccati equations, Kalman filtering, and introduction to nonlinear control.

The course will be delivered in person, and the successful candidate will be expected to attend tutorials at least one hour per week.

The contract for this course will include a payment for 52 hours, as it is required that the part-time professor teaching this course attends tutorials at least one hour per week.
