We are seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our team at Prairie Mountain Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and providing recreation programs focused on promoting the health, wellness, and recovery of our clients.

Job Summary

The Recreation Therapist will work collaboratively and independently to provide services to our clients in partnership with families and interdisciplinary team members. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Responsibilities:
  • Plans, organizes, and implements activity and recreation programs for clients and participants.
  • Organizes and implements group activities that promote physical and mental well-being.
  • Provides instruction and guidance to clients on selected tasks to develop knowledge and abilities.
  • Communicates information with interdisciplinary team members regarding client progress and revises plans as required.
  • Develops and implements creative activities for individuals and groups based on client interests, needs, and wishes.
  • Engages with external partners to develop activities and recreational events that promote physical and mental well-being.
  • Ensures that all activity and recreation events are client-focused and meet the physical and medical needs of participants.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation, including statistics and program reports.
  • Estimates, obtains, and adapts space, equipment, and supplies necessary to conduct scheduled activities.
Requirements:
  • Degree or diploma in a related field (e.g., recreation therapy, occupational therapy).
  • Two years of recent relevant experience working directly with clients in a healthcare or recovery environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other information technology systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
