Labourer

Canadian Plains is seeking a skilled Labourer to assist our team with various construction and project sites. As a Labourer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our projects, working closely with skilled trade persons and performing labour activities as required.
Responsibilities
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Fuel equipment when needed to maintain optimal performance.
- Clean construction work areas to maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
- Work with equipment operators and civil crew to complete grade and excavation work, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Assist pipefitters and welders with their work, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Assist heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in safely moving equipment, and provide assistance in other activities.
- Perform other activities at construction sites as directed by supervisors, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
- Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them.
- Correct unsafe acts and bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the immediate supervisor.
- Return tools (clean) back to the proper area after the job is complete or at the end of the shift.
- Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Local candidates are preferred, but we welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience.
- Grade 12 or GED is required, with a focus on math and science.
- H2S Alive and Standard First Aid certifications are mandatory.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential.
- Oilfield experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of working with small tools and as part of a team.
- Fluent in speaking and reading English.
- Must be able to follow directions and work independently.
- Must be able to get to the designated job site.
