About the Board

The Board of Directors is composed of eleven members, including seven Board Members elected from among Gallery 44's membership and four Community Board Members nominated for election by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

As a Community Board Member, you will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and contributing to various executive and programming committees. You will also serve on at least one committee and assist by offering input, helping to implement decisions, and ensuring good communication between Gallery 44's members, Board, and staff.

Objectives

The Board has determined that at this time we want to prioritize the representation of particular artistic and cultural communities, and develop expertise in certain areas to ensure the Board functions to best serve the organization and our greater community.

  • Build administrative capacities by increasing Board members with Human Resources training or working knowledge of progressive Human Resources practices within non-profit organizations
  • Build financial capacity by increasing Board members with knowledge of ethical and sustainable fundraising practices, particularly in the private sector, including individual donors and corporate donors and sponsors
  • Focusing on the above-mentioned skill sets, increase representation of Black, Indigenous and POC-identified, as well as LGBTQ2S+ artists and artists with disabilities on our Board of Directors
