At Design the 8 Studio Inc., we are seeking a skilled tradesperson to join our team as a carpenter. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, with experience in preparing layouts, measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials. They will also be responsible for building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring, and erecting walls and roof systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments

The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. They will also be willing to travel and work at heights, in noisy and dusty conditions.

Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience
  • Ability to work at heights, in noisy and dusty conditions
  • Willingness to travel
