Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Operating Room team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sterility in our surgical equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and equipment to the Operating Room.
  • Disassemble, wash, clean, and reassemble anaesthetic equipment according to established procedures.
  • Pick surgical supplies and instruments for surgical cases as per established procedures and physician requests.
  • Transport contaminated equipment and instruments to and from the Operating Room.
  • Maintain cleanliness of sterilizers, sterile core, and instrument room.
  • Distribute instruments and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Issue and deliver supplies as requested.
  • Participate in the Departmental Quality Assurance Program by cleaning, checking, and testing sterilizers and other related equipment.
  • Transport specimens to the laboratory and patients from the Operating Room as required.
  • Perform clerical duties such as recording workload statistics, answering the telephone, and maintaining records and files.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 and successful completion of Sterile Supply Processing Program.
  • One year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
